SDLT Autoloader 1/8 error

I received the following error whilst attempting to run the clean procedure using an SDLT cleaning tape in a 1/8 autoloader:

The description for this error states:

'The robotics is not able to move to the safe mechanical initialization position. Manual intervention is necessary.'

Does anyone know what this actually means? I presume pliers & a hammer are not required? ;)

I have not power cycled the drive yet.

Many thanks,

Re: SDLT Autoloader 1/8 error

Shalom David,

Its a hardware call. There may be a procedure on the front panel menu to reset, otherwise I would not stick fingers, pliers or anything else in there.

As I recall there are a few options for manually reseting the device if there isn't a tape jammed in there.

On other devices messages pop up because the cleaning tape is not recognized as media.

Re: SDLT Autoloader 1/8 error

Try a power cycle first.

From the manual:

90 = Mechanical initialization failure

The robotics were not able to move to the safe mechanical initialization position. Manual intervention is necessary. Use the Reset option in the Configuration menu.

Hope this helps!

Re: SDLT Autoloader 1/8 error

I power cycled the drive & had the same problem when attempting to clean it again. I then power cycled again & used a new cleaning tape. All appears ok now & I have tested with a backup since then.

Thanks for your help.
