SDLT320 / 220 HPUX 10.2

Hi,

Does anybody can help me on can I configure SDLT tape drives for HPUX 10.2 / HP9000?

Error and status are as follows:

ERROR:
SAM INTERNAL ERROR
The error has gotten the error code1 at type Note with the associated string:
10/4/16.0
QUANTUM SDLT320

STATUS:
10/4/16 scsi1 HP28655A - SE SCSI ID7
10/4/16.5.0 QUANTUM SDLT320

Any suggestion will really appreciated,

Regards,

She

Try doing it without SAM as this is a SAM error and not a problem with the tape configuration. If I remember correctly all SAM does is tell you to attach the thing and re-boot the box anyway.

It looks as if it's already attached though. All you need to do is make sure you have the lates stape and scsi patches from HP. Have a look at the output of "ioscan -fnC tape" and see if your device is there. Also see if it gives you the device files (do "insf -e C tape" if it hasn't) and confirm it all works by putting in a tape and doaing a "diskinfo" on the tape device.

good luck.

Re: SDLT320 / 220 HPUX 10.2

Hi,

With regards to creating device files (insf and maksf) can you tell me what kind of density that is fit for SLDT320. (coz I only have h'r for HP DLT40 = 130 compression disabled, 130 enables) how about for SDLT320? can I also use 130 and 131 for this? please advice.

Also can you tell me the best way to creat device files using insf and mksf?

regards,

Hi,

Try to use the ff.

1. Density code for SDLT tape drive : 147

2. Obtaining the instance # : ioscan -fnC tape

3. Creating device file : insf -e -C tape

Notes:
1.test your drive to another os (ex. w2k, nt4) before you install it to target machine (for isolation)

2. make sure your using a valid or not deffective media.

3. check proper terminaion, bent pins, scsi cable..
