Storage Boards Cleanup
To make it easier to find information about HPE Storage products and solutions, we are doing spring cleaning. This includes consolidation of some older boards, and a simpler structure that more accurately reflects how people use HPE Storage.

STK L20 on HP-UX 11i

I have just attached a StorageTek L20 to my RP2470 (via LVD SCSI).
All the devices are CLAIMED and I can see the drives and autopicker through ioscan.
The problem is using the "mc" command to move tapes to the drives.
I can move tapes between slots with no problem... i.e. mc -p /dev/picker -sS1 -dS2
But when I try moving a tape to either (LTO gen 1 drive) I get the following error
mc -p /dev/picker -sS1 -dD1

ERROR: 0x5 Illegal Request : 0x3000 Cannot read medium.

I get a similar error in Tivoli TSM, which is the backup product I was trying to initially use.

Any ideas?
Jeff

Jeff,

Are there already device files created for the drives? I guess so if you can control the robot arm already.

Load a tape to a drive using the library control panel (or web interface) and try then a tar to the tape to see if this works.

Kurt
