StorageWorks 1/8 G2 Tape Autoloader Error

We just recieved this unit and when we first started it up we got a "Connecting Drive / Drive RDY" message on the display with the "Ready" light blinking on an off. After about 5 minutes of this we get an error code FB 00 with the error light blinking on and off and the message "Drive Logged Out". Does this sound like a DOA unit of is there something easy to check ?

Re: StorageWorks 1/8 G2 Tape Autoloader Error

Other than pull the drive out of the back and then plug it back in there isn't much to check for this error. It means that the library can't communicate with the drive.

If you're really handy you can take the drive loose in the drive can and make certain that the cables are plugged into the back of the drive securely. It's likely an assembly error rather than a failed drive but on a new unit you shouldn't get that.

We pulled the drive and reset all the connections, powered it up and everything is working. Thanks for the help.

Re: StorageWorks 1/8 G2 Tape Autoloader Error

Might still be an issue. I ran the "Wellness Check" and after completion I get

Cycles Rec.Err.
10 40

Not sure what that might be but I'll do some research.
