Storageworks MSL5026 & arcserve2000

I just installed my msl5026 with a dlt8000 drive on a windows nt4 server but arcserve 2000 recognizes the tape in the slots but cannot read the the tape, arcserve manager displays a status of updating after loading the tape into the drive.

Does anyone have a sollution for this problem ?

Hi,

You should install L&TT and see whether things are working fine or not with L&TT.
This gives you more info to look for the cause in the hardware or software.

Thanks, I got it to work but now the performance is so slow. Any ideas.

Install L&TT and test the drive.
You can create a support ticket, place it here and I will have a look at it.

If you experience slow performance with ArcServe in local backup you should investigate in your server hardware (SCSI Card, SCSI Card Driver, SCSI Cable, too many devices on the same SCSI bus). I totally agree with the advice of testing your environment with LTT.
If you're experiencing slow performance with LAN backup, make sure you NIC and Ethernet switch ports are set up as 100Mb/Full Duplex, and not as AutoSense.
Check also NIC drivers, and make sure your antivirus programs do not process files when requested for backup operations (this last advice is also valid for local backup).
Good luck
