SureStore E 20/700 bridge issue

Hello,

Could somene please decode what this message means off of a bridge in my Surestore E 20/700 Tape silo. I am seeing this on the terminal and I can not get the menu to respond. I believe it is a A66356A bridge, but its hard to read where it sits in the silo.

HP could not give me a clear answer what the following meant or if it is normal. Can anyone decipher this please.

instruction access
Exception next instruction address 0x20207c0c
Machine Status Register 0x8209032
Condition Register 0x4200040
Task: 0x2fc788 "termTASK"

Re: SureStore E 20/700 bridge issue

The model of the tape silo bridge is A6356A. I am wondering what the Exception next instruction address, Machine Status Register, Condition Register, and Task mean. Are these normal or serious?

Anyone know if this indicates hardware failure, and if so what are the hex codes saying exactly has failed?

Re: SureStore E 20/700 bridge issue

Where exactly did you see this message?

If your library is "green", available and working, don't worry about this.
You may have a look into the library event logs (web interface) for critical events.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Sorry, I mixed up the boxes a little.
Are you able to connect the web interface?

Hope this helps!

Re: SureStore E 20/700 bridge issue

Hi,

The bridge A6356A you are talking about is SureStore Intergface Manager box.
Those hex codes are instruction are from assembly lanaguage code , maybe from the controller of IM.
The task shown is SCSI Termination which IM does internally for its SCSI Buses as mentioned in the Service Guide.
Refer the following doc
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/lpg29227/lpg29227.pdf

What is the "Ready" LED indication on the Remote Management Card ( located at first left corner slot in IM ).

Did you try put some esc sequences on the terminal ctrl- c or ctrl-d ?

Re: SureStore E 20/700 bridge issue

This is an error. It was fixed by replacing the managment card in the bridge and updating the firmware. Something was throwing allot of data to remote managemnet card I believe. Resets to a brocade switch seem kind of flakey with this device I have noticed. I am trying to force the ports down to 1 gig instead of auto to see if that part helps. At least now the menus do not hang up on the terminal anymore :).
