Sym_U32 Timeout on Surestore 2/60
Morning.
Hp Lc2000 server running Windows 2000 server.
Hp Surestore 2/60 backup device.
In the computer management - device manager - of the server it is only showing 1 drive instead of 2. The event viewer is giving me an error of : Event id 11 - the device sym_u32 time out.
I had previously fixed this by swopping the backup device to the the secondary onboard scsi controller, i thought the problem was solved. NOT the case, the error is now back.
What should i be looking at to solve this problem. I dont think it is a connection error between the server and device, as the server see's 1 drive, and it works correctly.
Could this be a hardware error on the drive that will not connect.
Any comments will be helpfull.
Thanks

Re: Sym_U32 Timeout on Surestore 2/60
Try LTT http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/storageworks/ltt/index.html
This look like connectivity problem. Please check cables and terminators. Which drives are in the library? DLT or LTO?
How your library is connected at the back? Are there terminators in spare SCSI connectors?
Check manuals at http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.jsp?contentType=SupportManual&docIndexId=3124&locale=en_US&prodSeriesId=34115&prodTypeId=12169

Re: Sym_U32 Timeout on Surestore 2/60
Hello.
I shut down the server and the 2/60 surestore.
I reconnected all the cables and changed the terminator.
Both drives were picked up by windows.
I forgot to check the boot sequence the first time round to see if both drives were picked up by the server - in boot the sequence.
Im not sure now what the error is, and if it will re-occur. Ill have to wait and see. I think it will though.
Cheers
