TLZ09 vs TLZ07

I'm have a DEC4000 running Unix 4.0D. I have a TLZ09 VA in a Storageworks bay that I get the message "device busy" when I try to access it. My first inclination is bad hardware and I am to replace with a TLZ07.
1. What's the diff between the 07 and the 09?
2. From a sw standpoint, will the OS treat the 07 just like the 09? I prefer to not make any changes to the config.
