Tape Drive Upgrade
Hi,
We are in the process of upgrading our 2 old LTO1 drives for 2 LTO2 in our MSL5030 Tape library. We are not sure of the process to complete this task.
I have downloaded and installed L&TT on HPUX 11.23 and updated the library firmware. We also use Data Protector 5.1.
This system is fibre connected via NSR to our SAN switches. The Servers and storage we backup are also fibre attached to the SAN switches.
I have looked through various documents but cannot find a sequence of events to accomplish the task from a to z which includes firmware upgrades, hpux actions (if any) to Data Protector configuration.
Has anybody got any advice on the process?
Thanks.

Re: Tape Drive Upgrade
I would do the following.
Confirm the library firmware is 520.
Power down and replace the drives (I assume you get the correct version of library drives.
Power up, connect to the NSR and check the mapping. Then check,i if the drives are visible to the server. Remoce and re-create the special devices files on the server. Use LTT to check the drives firmware.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Tape Drive Upgrade
Hi,
Thanks for the advice, that looks exactly like our plan of action.
We are revisiting this next week.
