Tape\Drive compatibility

In a previous post I mentioned that I was getting numerous CRC errors in my Backup Exec logs, at different sites. Our company standard is Compaq SDLT 110/220, I've just found out that some of my remote sites may be using 160/320 tapes in their 110/220 drives. What type of issues will this cause?

Re: Tape\Drive compatibility

Looking Here:
http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/storageworks/sdlt160320/

It appears that the 160/320 & the 110/220 use the same 'SDLT1' tapes. I would assume that there is no difference therefore.

Re: Tape\Drive compatibility

This link says the 320 drive is backward compatiable with the 110/220 tapes, I really need to know what issue could be encountered using 160/320 tapes in a 110/220 drive.

Re: Tape\Drive compatibility

From the Second Paragraph under Overview:

"The SDLT 320 is an enhanced version of the SDLT 110/220 tape drive offering a 45% increase in native capacity per cartridge (160 GB) and data transfer performance (16 MB/s). The new SDLT 320 offers the same backward-read compatibility to current DLT tape drives as the SDLT 110/220, but is also write-compatible with the SDLT 110/220 AND UTILIZES THE SAME SDLT1 MEDIA AND CLEANING CARTRIDGE."

It appears that only the drive is changed, while using the exact same media.
