Tape Drive part numbers
There are two tape libraries, one using Drive HP:Ultrium 5-SCSI and the other using HP:Ultrium 4-SCSI
We need to get the part numbers of 3 TB tapes for the Ultrium-5 and 1 TB tapes for the Ultrium 4 drives.
Looking at some of the specs of the drives on the Internet:
LTO-5 Ultrium 3280
LTO-5 Ultrium 3000
LTO-4 Ultrium 1840
LTO-4 Ultrium 1760
How do I know exactly which tape drives I have and does it affect which tapes I need to purchase.
P.S. This thread has been moved from Data Protector Support and News Forum to Tape Libraries and Drives. -HP Forum Moderator

Re: Tape Drive part numbers
I don't really nderstand the question
First, any questions about Hardware should be directed to that support group, we just don't have access to that kind of information
I did go out and 'google' HP Ultruim Tape part numbers
http://www8.hp.com/us/en/products/storage-media/product-detail.html?oid=4153086
3TB tape
p/n C7975A
There is not 1TB capacity tape
LTO-4 - 1.6 TB capacity
p/n C7974A
I don't have a tape drive attached to my system, but Belarc Advisor may tell exactly what your tape drive is. You can also check Device Manager -> Tape Drives if library is attached to a Windows system
There is also the LIbrary and Tape Tools utility
Data Protector Tools, like 'devbra -dev' will only tell you 'LTO'

Re: Tape Drive part numbers
Hi,
Any LTOx drives will accept LTOx and LTOx-1 tapes. The different product numbers listed are only whether the drive is half-height or full-height.
You can order any LTO5 and LTO4 tapes from the market, though we would recommend HP tapes :).
