Tape Library connected to Hyper-V HyperVisor WinServer 2008R2

Dear,

We will go for a new infrastructure,
We have 2 new DL380G7 with each 48 GB RAM, They will be both running the VM's, with Hyper-V
Storage will be handled by a HP P2000 MSAG3 via ISCSI.

We will go for a Tape library LTO5 MSL2024 SAS connected.

The question is, how to connect to the library to the infrastructure ?
We all know that a virtual machine 'guest' cannot do this job due that a VM cannot communicate with a Tape Library, only a physical box,

Can one of the 2 hypervisors playing the backup role and attaching it via SAS. or do we need a additional physical server for the backup role of infrastructure.
(too much load or performance issues)

All feedback & improvements are welcome.
Many thanks for your help

Re: Tape Library connected to Hyper-V HyperVisor WinServer 2008R2

question is : Can a tape library and the backup software running on one of the 2 hypervisors running the hyper-v role.
Will this not kill the performance during backup processing.

or best solution is to do this on 3rd physical box dedicated for management & backup purposes.

thanks

I haven't worked with Hyper-V but for Vmware we recommend an independent physical server for backup. The I/O load can be quite high.
