Re: Tape Storage DAT160 USB

This specs say that this is 160 Gb compressed:
delivering up to 160GB compressed data per cartridge ... (assuming 2:1 data compression):

Re: Tape Storage DAT160 USB

How Can I save Data Compressed.
My SO is a Linux, I use TAR, and my Files are GSM audio Files packets with TAR.

Re: Tape Storage DAT160 USB

Compare this to zip or rar or whatever - sometimes the compressed file is even larger than the original because it is already compressed. It's the same here - the 2:1 ratio is pure marketing, you won't see this in real life.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Tape Storage DAT160 USB

Well, not only HP is telling this ...

They all call it 80/160 or something (it's the same for all tapes from the beginning, no matter if it is DLT, DDS or LTO).

But IMHO it is the same if I say my car runs 220 km/h - per wheel!

Is this 880?

Don't take that serious but let's think about this.

;-)

Have fun!

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
