Tape media for 40/80
I like to know if I can use my old 20/40 DLT TapeIV in a 40/80 Tape drive and get 40/80 compression ?? Because the new DLTtape IV said it is compatible wit DLT 4000, 7000, 8000. Anyone using the 40/80 tape drive yet ?? let me know, because I like to avoid buying all new media if possible. Thanks
David

Re: Tape media for 40/80
No - of course not... The tape format can't handle that (media quality is too low).

Re: Tape media for 40/80
The DLTtape IV media is designed to work with 20/40 tape drive, as well as the 40/80. It's possible that some of your used tapes may exhibit less than satisfactory results should you use them in a 40/80. Depending on the critical nature of your production, such results can help you when considering the purchase new media.
