My enviroment:
Server: DL570 with Windows server 2003.
DB: SQL 2000 SP4
Tape unit: DW016A
The tape unit works fine using ntbackup.
If I use Query Analyzer I can perfectly add the tape device and even perform a backup.
But, when I use Enterprise manager and try to add a new backup device, tape is inactive and I can only create a file device.
Heeeelp Please!

Re: Tape not listed in SQL backup with DW016A
Dear Anuar,
I also have the same problem with my MSL6030 with an SQL2000-SP4 server connected with the MSL on the SAN. Did you resolved the problem?

Solution
Well, there is something catchy here, NTBACKUP requires RSM to be enabled, since you told that it's working, I'll suppose you have it enabled.
But, any other application / backup software requires RSM to be disabled, due to the TUR function in Windows 2003. Please make sure you read this.
