Tape stuck in drive that won't power up

Hi,

Got a 12/24gb DAT tape drive that won't power up which we will have replaced by Compaq service. However, the drive will not power up when connected to a power supply and the tape that's inside has some rather important data. Is there a removal procedure we can follow to remove the tape from the drive?

Have the Field Service Engineer or Authorized Compaq Service Provider remove the tape from the tape drive .
