Tape stuck in tape drive

Hi,

It did happen to me also and i couldn't get the tape out until I did powercycle the tape drive.

It will work,

It is *not* claimed... What does that mean?

Is a reboot still worthwhile, or does this mean the drive is bad?

The light is glowing a normal color.

not claim mean that the OS do not see and manage it anymore.
-it may occur for various reason, to make the solution easy, perform a shut down of the server (not only a reboot) and wait for two minuts before to reboot it. doing this, you will not only reset the server, and the software, and the HBA, but you will also reset completely the DDS unit.
At boot time, have a look at the leds on the front of the Tape unit, during the startup, a general check will be performed bu the tape itself, if it pass the self test of the electronic and mechanic, it will become ready, if a internal error occur during this selftest, a yellow led will become lit in the fromt.
During this selftest, usualy the tape is also ejected.
when everytink is back online, you can run L&TT to investigate about the cause of the problem.

Hi,
Stoppp, very clear drive went offline, you should do a powercycle to the drive or system, which ever you prefer. I recommend, the system itself.
