Trouble with C1554-20120 DAT tape.....
I have baught an DDS tape wihout manual.
The tape works fines but it seems that some kind of hardware compression is set by default as i can only backup 9.5 gig per dds-3 tape instead of the usual 11.5.
I have search all HP site for a Dipswitch setting table but had no luck... ,(
There is a 8 dipswitch under my tape reader.
Anyone use that model?
Trouble : i can't read PDF here at work !!

Re: Trouble with C1554-20120 DAT tape.....
Hi:
You don't have a problem. The drive is using compression but the actual compression is extremely data dependent. In any sort of backup scheme the only value you can depend upon is the uncompressed capacity. Anything beyond that is simply icing on the cake.

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
