Ultirum 448

Hi friends,

i've attached the Ultrium 448 thru SCSI to DL380G4 running on Redhat ES4.

How to configure and use the tape drive?

Re: Ultirum 448

The recommended HBA for the drive can be found here:

Please ensure you are using this SCSI card with a Proliant server and never use a RAID controller, it will eventually cause many issues including potentially ruining your drive.

Also make sure you are using the correct drivers for your OS. Depending on the back up software you are using you will want to download that manufacturer's drivers to use the best configuration for reliable back ups.

Ensure the drive is seen on post by the server, then verify the controller sees the LTO 448 when the OS loads.

Please avoid using microsoft or HP drivers when configuring tape units. Most back up software providers have their own procedure for drivers and you should refer to documentation provided by them for this info.
