Just wanted to know about "Ultrim" drives. What are these? What are the medias required for? How much is the capacity?

Ultrium is the new technology offered by HP. LTO or Linear Tape Open.

100GB Uncompressed, 200GB compressed.

LTO was developed originally by IBM, but HP seems to have the best LTO drive with the Ultrium. 2nd generation LTO was announced yesterday with tape capacity double the current level and throughput of 20-40 MB/sec
