Ultrium 2 Drive loading the wrong tapes
Hi,
I am working with a MSL 6000 Series Storage Library, that has 1 Ultrium 2 drive and 1 Ultrium 4 drive.
I am running this on a Windows server 2003, using Symantec/Veritas Backup Exec 10d.
The issue I have is that I have set up a backup job to use my Ultrium 2 drive, and associated a media set to this job, containing only Ultrium 2 tapes. However, for some reason this drive continually tries to load the Ultrium 4 tapes, which are located in the opposite library and are not set to be used with this backup job whatsoever.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
Many thanks in advance

Re: Ultrium 2 Drive loading the wrong tapes
The library will do what the backup app says.
Please check if you mixed up the slots anyhow ...
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Ultrium 2 Drive loading the wrong tapes
Are your bar code rules set up to restrict tape mounts correctly?

Re: Ultrium 2 Drive loading the wrong tapes
Hi,
Thankyou for your responses.
I don't have any bar code rules currently set up. Bar code rules are definately not enabled.
When you say check the slots.. do you mean physically within the libary, because I have checked and double checked the tapes I am putting in the library and where I am putting them.
Also as I say I have made sure that the correct tapes are assigned to the correct Media set... which is in turn assigned to the correct backup job... which is then assigned to the correct drive.
Could it be anything to do with the Device Pool setup, as I have tried to set this up but still had a problem.
Thanks again
Barry
