Ultrium 215 External and Translation Error

I have an External Ultrium 215 using Backup Exec 8.5 on a Novell 5.1 HP LH3000 Netserver. When the drive was first installed I had no problems whatsoever. Lately I am getting Tape Translation errors on the Verify and now even before the Backup Starts. Nothing has been changed to cause this.

Any help is much appreciated.

Hello,

You can always try to clean the heads using a cleaning tape. You have to do this once a month minimum. This of course depends on how much you use the tape drive.

I've tried that and still have problems. I did see a tech note on Novell's site that said HP suggests pluggin the unit into a regular outlet instead of the UPS apparently the power going to the tape drive will be low. I did this and last nights backup ended normal. Hopefully this is the answer.
