Ultrium LTO3 drive: cartridge memory

(2nd try - sorry for the duplicate if the first try made it through against expectation.)

Is there a Linux commandline (== scriptable) application to access LTO3 cartridge memory data?

Is there space on the memory to store some minimal index information (something like 1k would do just fine)?
