Ultrium Performance

Problem on performance on LTO - Ultrium 4/40 attached to K460 with 4cpu ( 180mhz ), 2 gb of memory & 4 channels running on Omniback 2.
For 1gb of data it took almost 1/2 hour.
Where is the problem ,is there any parameter need to be tune , patches to update ?

Re: Ultrium Performance

The problem is: one of these:

(1) K-class server - slow backplane
(2) scsi channel - what are you using?
(3) type of backup - command used?
(4) speed of disks?
(5) other things running on server?
(6) What OS revision?
(7) bring your server up to the latest patch bundle - at least
(8) upgrade omniback!
(9) check firmware of LTO

Re: Ultrium Performance

Hello,

How is the SCSI configuration on the drives? Are they on the same SCSI bus?

Make sure the Ultrium drives are all on separate SCSI HBAs. No daisy-chaining of drives allowed here.

Re: Ultrium Performance

Hi

Create a local null device in OmniBack (file device to /dev/null) and back up to this. If you not get better performance with this the problem is disk/filesystem performance.
