Hi,
Just a quick one. We have multiple servers running Data Protector backups on Ultrium-1 drives - but soon we'll be recieving Ultrium-2 drives. Are these two drives compatible? ie can we restore data from an Ultium-1 tape to an Ultrium-2 drive? And vice versa?
Many thanks in advance

Re: Ultriun tape drive compatibilty
downwardly compatible.
The 200 GB Ultrium tapes will work read/write in both.
The second generation 400 GB tapes will only work in the new drives.
We've stuck with 200 GB tape stock so we can plan our second generation upgrade bettter. Right now the backup device can use the tapes, but the 230e drives on our rp5450 servers can not. When we replace those servers, we'll get new tape drives as well.
