Unable to access magazine on MSL5000
The following has just started ocurring on our MSL5026:
Whenever we need to access the left or right magazine and need to open either of the doors, we get the following error message:
"Host, via a SCSI Prevent/Allow command, is preventing magazine access"
We can still access the tapes via the mailslot.
We are using Legato Networker Version 7.0 (I've done a search on the HP knowledge base and the only hit is one related to backup exec)
Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Unable to access magazine on MSL5000
hi,
this is a security feature of the libraries, Software send a reserve command to the unit and lock the doors, it have the full controll of the tapes, and nobody can change them without letting it know.
that is why you have the possibility to load/unload tapes throught the mail slot, which is built for that purpose.
If you force the door to open, an inventory will then take place, that have to be passed also to the software. This can disrupt backups, and can take long time if you have no bar code reader.

Re: Unable to access magazine on MSL5000
Hi,
I have had this problem many times with Data Protector, if you disable the Windows Removable storage service it goes away, but I am not sure if you can do this with Legato, I suggest you try it and see, if you can that is.
Andy
