Unable to see tape devices in ioscan

We have attached a HP EML tape library to a HPUX 11.31 itanium server. Zoning has been setup for two 2 drives. We can see the HBA in ioscan, but we cannot see any drives. When I look in syslog there are the following errors:

Nov 16 12:30:02 test1 vmunix: Target path (class=tgtpath, instance=20) has gone
offline. The target path h/w path is 0/5/0/0/0/1.0x500110a0005b0b60

Nov 16 12:30:02 test1 vmunix: Target path (class=tgtpath, instance=20) has gone
online. The target path h/w path is 0/5/0/0/0/1.0x500110a0005b0b60

we are also getting numerous "LUN path probe failuers" in scsimgr.

The server has all the latest patches installed.

I would check the status and presentation from commandview TL now.

Hi, Unfortunately we don't have commandview installed.

Get it, install it!

Otherwise you cannot manage the library properly.
