Very slow backup on MSL5000 after upgrade from LTO1 to LTO4

-Old config: MSL5000 with Two LTO1 drives
-New config: MSL5000 with Two LTO4 1840 and NS E1200-320

After this upgrade, the same job now is taking more time (+3 hours!!!) using the same old backup software (DataProtector 6.0)

Please find attached the report save from the E1200-320 controller containing the library config and firmwares.

For information, after the upgrade we have used the latest LTT and firmware revisions: i hope that it is not a firmware compatibility issue between drives/controllers.

Hi,

As a first step, I would use the diagnostic tools in LT&T to make sure you don't have any cabling issues...

With LTO-4 drives, you're only supposed to have one drive per bus.

Hope this helps,

think the problem here may be the speed you are feeding the tape drive. An Ultrium 1 will stream from about 8 MB/s. an Ultrium 4 will only start to stream when you feed it with 40 MB/s. I am guessing you are not reaching these speeds. try the HP PAT tool to see what you can read off the file system
