What tapes can the HP Ultrium 1-SCSI LTO-1 read??

LTO-1 tapes only??

Are any other tapes possible??

Would we have to buy a new tape drive to use larger tapes??

BEWS 12.0 claims the drive can read and write a lot of different media types.

Thank you, Tom

Re: What tapes can the HP Ultrium 1-SCSI LTO-1 read??

Hi Tom,

An LTO-1 drive can only use LTO-1 tapes.

If you want to use larger tapes, you need a different tape drive.

The LTO standard for backward compatibility is to write back one generation and read back two generations, therefore if you want to still be able to read the tapes created on your current drive, you need to upgrade to LTO-3.

Hope this helps,

Hi,

LTO 1 tape drive can read LTO 1 cartridge,

LTO 2 tape drive can read LTO 1 & 2 cartridge,

LTO 3 tape drive can read LTO 2 & 3 cartridge.
