Re: WinXP Compatability-C1534A DS-1 Tape
Have you tried instaling these tape device drivers?

Re: WinXP Compatability-C1534A DS-1 Tape
I know this is silly ... but did you check the termination. Those old drives needs to be termiated with resistor packs. The DEVICE ID scsi signalling can at times survive a non terminted chain but if you put any load on it it goes funny.
Also are you trying to back up with the windows backup software or a 3rd party product.

Re: WinXP Compatability-C1534A DS-1 Tape
The device is terminated properly... it's been in use on an older workstation for years. We've just tried to move it to a newer machine.
We're using the Windows Backup software. I tried to contact Retrospect but they never returned my e-mails or phone calls.

Re: WinXP Compatability-C1534A DS-1 Tape
Did you check f the firmware for the drive is up to date? New OS might be running int a bug on the older firmware.

Re: WinXP Compatability-C1534A DS-1 Tape
We put the tape and SCSI card in a Win98 machine that was ready to "recycle" and it works fine now.
I'm right in the middle of a very large project and just don't have the time to continue to search the HP web site, which appears to no really new drivers/updates for this product. I've been unable to find a bios update on their web site. It seems that the tape drive is another one of those "orphan" products.
Thanks for your help.

Have a looksee at this url.
HP Library and Tape Tools is what you need to upgrade the firmware.
