backups slow to SDLT drives

backups slow to SDLT drives

Have a MSL5026SL with MRU attached via fibre to Compaq Tru64 Server.
Backups and using VDUMP is only giving me throuput rate of 2.5 Mbytes/second. This should support native rates of 11 mbytes/second.

Do I need to change any kernel parameters or is this likely to be a hardware configuration problem.
