c1537a w/ new backup tapes
Hello all,
I have been instructed to start using all new media in our servers.
I have a problem labeling the HP-UX tapes. We are using SAM as our backup method, but I do not see anywhere to label media or to format media. We are using an external c1537a tape drive, and HP-UX 11.0.
If someone has any information on what I should do please help. I always reward answers with points.
Thanks in advance,
Brad Woolard

Re: c1537a w/ new backup tapes
There is no need to format media simply insert it in the drive and start using it. I assume that you are really using fbackup and the underlying command and it requires no pre-initialized media.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: c1537a w/ new backup tapes
Hi,
The SAM backup is just a grapichal interface to fbackup and fbackup dont need formating tapes.
