connect two MSL5060 pass-through extender - SCSI chain

Hi,

I'll be connecting two MSL5060 libraries with a pass-through extender (and 10U extension kit).

The master library has two drives, whereas the slave library has zero drives.

The master library is current a standalone library and the SCSI chain is:

SCSI-drive1-drive2-robot1-terminator

How do you SCSI connect the two libraries (so 1 virtual library with 120 slots and two drives) connected with the pass-through extender:

1. Does it stay SCSI-drive1-drive2-robot1-terminator and no connection to the robot arm of the slave library

2. SCSI-drive1-drive2-robot1-robot2-terminator (where robot2 is the robot arm of the slave library)

Thanks,

Kurt

Yes, only the master is connected to the host. The master will pick up the slots from the slave(s), and appear like one library. The units are internally connected via a rear panel ethernet connection.

You use the library GUI Edit Options to change the "Module Configuration" from Standalone to Master on one, and Slave on the other.
The journey IS the reward.

Dave gave you the answer for connecting the slave controller. He didn't point out though that you are using a bus configuration that may result in poor performance. Having 2 high performance tape drives on a single SCSI bus may cause poor performance.
