connecting TA5300 to rp3440 through built-in Ultra160 SCSI

I would like to connect a TA5300 storage enclosure with DDS4 tape drive to an rp3440 system running HP-UX 11.23. The TA5300 must be connected to the build-in Ultra160 SCSI. I use a C2924C SCSI cable. The stape driver is activated. I still see UNCLAIMED / UNKNOWN in the ioscan output.
How can I make this work (what's missing) ???

Hi,

Have you tried to load the tape2 driver ? It is listed as "DDS tape module".

You are right, the device should be claimed by the stape driver. are the cables properly installed (upper/lower connector)? How about the bus termination? Please provide the product number of your drive and the "ioscan -fn" output.

There are some limitations regarding the rp34xx servers built-in scsi controllers.

Applying stape2 to the kernel was the right answer.
