Hello everyone,
I believe I already know the answer but I would like to verify it with you learned colleagues.
I must shutdown to swap out a dlt7000 fast and wide scsi tape drive if for no other reason it is a high voltage device.
True??

Solution
Hot swapp is not supported for tapes, so the device and the scsi host adapter should always bee shutdown.
Also lots of OS do not support plun-play and need a reboot to identify corectly the drive.
Last think, the sw application usualy use the serial number and/or bios version of the drive to identify the device, if you swap without a reboot and/or resincronization you can run introuble
This is valid for LVD or HVD
