emergency_rec for sco open unix 8 & hp DDS2

dear all;
i'm trying to take an emergency tape for my server runing SCO Open Unix 8 on my HP DDS2 dat drive, it take about 5 hours to complete.
is there are special configuration for the deep switch or it problem with system configration.
please advise
