hp storage works DAT 72 USB external (no compressed 36 to 72 GB)

We are using hp storage works DAT 72 USB externalfor data backup. We are using
“Data Protector Express Single Server Edition” as backup software and Digital Data Storage DAT 72 (C8010A) cartridge.
Unfortunately, we are unable to backup data more than 36GB on 01 tape and software & hardware both compressions are enabled.
Please advise, how we can backup more than 36GB data using above mentioned tape drive.

Hi,

compression depends on what files you're backing up.
If the files are already compressed, you can't store more than 36 GB.
You can reach the optimum of 72 GB only with uncompressed and good compressable files.

Maybe I have seen the same behavior. My DLT tape is 20 uncompressed - with compression its 40 Gb. DPX recognizes that the backup job is 35 Gb but then asks for more media when ~20Gb is backed up. The external tape drive shows that compression is active during the backup.

Just another DPX bug.
