x/x/x/x.1.13.0.0.2.1
..
x/x/x/x.1.13.0.0.15.4

Re: mdr san problem

All addresses with the '255' are from a switch. Did you happen to direct connect to the device(s) first before placing into a switch and zone it? If you do a
'ioscan -fnC tape' which will do a re-scan the old addresses shoudl disappear.

Re: mdr san problem

Solution should be:
1. delete all device files for library controller, router and drives;
2. go to the router (using web browser) and arrange drives' LUNs first (0 and 1), then Library (2) and only then NSR (LUN #3);
3. reboot server to force it to 'forget' about previous arrangement and recreate device files.
Is it so secret not to attach 'ioscan -fn' here? It would help greatly!

Re: mdr san problem

You are right. I'm using these two devices (read/write):

tape 33 0/12/0/0.1.29.255.0.0.2 stape CLAIMED DEVICE COMPAQ SuperDLT1
/dev/rmt/33m /dev/rmt/33mn /dev/rmt/c20t0d2BEST /dev/rmt/c20t0d2BESTn
/dev/rmt/33mb /dev/rmt/33mnb /dev/rmt/c20t0d2BESTb /dev/rmt/c20t0d2BESTnb
tape 34 0/12/0/0.1.29.255.0.0.3 stape CLAIMED DEVICE COMPAQ SuperDLT1
/dev/rmt/34m /dev/rmt/34mn /dev/rmt/c20t0d3BEST /dev/rmt/c20t0d3BESTn
/dev/rmt/34mb /dev/rmt/34mnb /dev/rmt/c20t0d3BESTb /dev/rmt/c20t0d3BESTnb

for several months without any problem. However I do not control changer from HPUX (Windows machine does the job). It may be some problems with changer robotics, but tapes work perfect using devices with path containing 255.
