I attempted to install a second dss tape library to a scsi parallel (se) controller. The robotic arm was correctly claimed and the device driver found. The drivers for the tape drive were not created. The /dev/diag/rmt/ device file and the /dev/rmt/... device files were not created. Should I create the device files myself? If so, what are the commands? Should I get the se controller from the server
where the second tape library came from??? Any suggestions??????

Placing more than one tape device on a SCSI chain may cause performance issues. Two much traffic down one chain is bad, when trying to continuously stream data to a tape.
As suggested, you can use 'insf -e' to create devices or 'mksf -H'
If you have another controller you can use, I suggest you make use of it.

Yes, I agree with Michael. If this is really Single Ended SCSI, you are going to be bus-speed limited AND cable length limited (1.5 or 3 meters). Use a seprate HBA for the second library.
If these are both DDS autoloaders, the bus probably has enough bandwidth, but it will still cause the drives to fall out of streaming more, which is bad.
