old DAT device

I would like to know whether an E-800 server would support a fairly old external DAT Drive (HP 6400 - C1520B) as backup device.

It depends on the version of the operating system you are running. I believe the 1520 was a SE SCSI and if you are running anything close to 10.20 you should be fine. Why not plug it in and try?
