Re: old tape secure
Hi,
These are the specifications for LTO Media:
Media Life is about 1M passes or 20,000 loads
Archive Life is 30 years.
This is the media diagnostics tool.

Solution
Hi
According to HP official documentation LTO media is good for 30 years, 1 million passes or 260 full backups.
I'm including the documentation:
HP StorageWorks Ultrium - HP Ultrium Media Life
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c00286108&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN
HP StorageWorks Ultrium - HP Ultrium Media Care
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=lpg50093&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN
HP StorageWorks Ultrium - HP Ultrium Data Cartridge Limited Warranty
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=lpg50212
Therefore I'd say your media is still good for use, if you have taken good care of it
Regards,
Efrain
