rx4640 11.23 atdd with IBM fiber LTO2

hardware: rx4640, fiber attachted through mcdata ds32 to 12 IBM fiberLTO2.
atdd driver version: 5.5.0.26
HPUX version 11.23
Netbackup version 5.1
st_san_safe=1

Problem:
Netbackup fails, with (84 media errors) often enough that backups are not reliable. Mostly fails on larger databases. These backups are sap and oracle.

Did you resolve your issue? I have a kind-of similar problem. Did it have anything to do with the st_san_safe kernel parameter?
