slow performance

slow performance

I'm getting very slow performance from a new Compaq 40/80 DLT drive. It took approximately 18 hours to backup 18 gig. That can't be right, can it?
I'm using Novell's SBCON on Netware 5.1
The server's an ML370 with 2 processors (800 mhz I think)
The server's got 1gig of memory and a smart array controller 5 10,000 rpm drives in a raid 5 config with a hot spare. I've jacked up the max dir cache buffers, the min dir cache buffers, and went through Novell's docs. Is there anything I can do with the on board scsi controller's settings?
If the restore ever finishes I'll be running ArcserveIT 6.6
Any clues are appreciated.

Re: slow performance

try this http://support.ca.com/techbases/as61/18029.html and this http://support.ca.com/techbases/as61/10015.html

Changing block size and buffer in the Tapesvr.cfg under sys:\arcserve.6\nlm

for DLT tape use block size=5. This work for me. Double the output speed.

Re: slow performance

SBCON is not a supported Backup Software Product . Recommend using the latest version Arcserve or Backup Exec .
