stm output on a DLT 7000?

Hi, folks.

I'm looking at the output from stm info on a DLT-7000 tape drive, and I'm wondering if I should be concerned about "Read Errors Uncorrected" in the hundreds? Is this normal?

Thanks.

Re: stm output on a DLT 7000?

Hello,

If you are still working properly, you shouldn't be alarmed by this. Typically, a tape drive does not correct errors due some problem. These could be bad tapes or bad drive, even a tape requiring cleaning. So I think some time doing the tape drive's lifetime, it had such problems. But if now you are working well with it, you can assume that those errors are from a faulty tape cartidge, not a faulty tape drive.
