sure store dat 24 - cannot load media

I have a HP Sure Store DAT 24 internal tape drive.
It does not load the tape anymore, I cleaned it, I used a brand new tape, still the same problem, anything else I can try before I buy a new one.

Download L&TT and run the Device Analysis Test - in the Analysis results it will give you a better idea at what is happening with the drive. Your firmware may be out-of-date.
