tape backup taking too much time msl 8096 gen 4

hi ,

we have a rx2660 box with a filesystem of size 400gb

the problem is when we are taking a backup of mounpoint /test/xyz it is of 250gb with a deep directory structure.

the backup just doesnt complete even afetr 8 hrs then we get an error of Sadletimeout.

Let me know any specific parameter on my DP cell manager & also for my hpux client with 11iv2.

so that i can take the backup on tape.

Hi, if it's 'deep' maybe you hit a limitation there? What if you compress it / put it in one archive first?

Actually archiving is a very time  taking task , it may collide with my main jobs which are scheduled at night.

DP must be having a feature to take care of such structure , some finding on forum helped me in enabling one parameter " backup posix hard links" to disable tree scan iin hpux.

But even after that its taking 10gb/hr. my data is 250gb.

May i know what are the limits if we can try and check the same.
