tape drive questions

I have an hp server, we are using veritas backup software, the tape drive ejects on its own after a few seconds, what does this usually mean, is the tape drive bad??? any help on this would be great, thanks.

I a new tape doesn't solve the problem, then replace your tape drive

So try a new tape and if that doesnt fix it the actualy drive will be bad???

In our experience that is a fact. You should call for hardware service if no tape is accepted by your tape device.

you do not specify the type of tape drive you use. one reason could be that you are inserting the wrong kind of tape.

E.g. if you have a DDS2 drive and insert a DDS3 media it will be ejected immediately.
