Storage Boards Cleanup
To make it easier to find information about HPE Storage products and solutions, we are doing spring cleaning. This includes consolidation of some older boards, and a simpler structure that more accurately reflects how people use HPE Storage.

tape to tape copy between drives in a library

I have a 2/20 dual drive library, FC attached to an A500 server running HP-UX 11.00. I am having all sorts of problems getting the robotics to work over FC, but that's another issue.

In the meantime, I have a need to copy the data off of one tape onto another, without extracting to disk. Both drives in the library are fully configured and operational from the host.

Can a recursive tar command be used? Is there something else specific to HP-UX 11? How can I do this, if at all?

I'd image you could use dd to copy from one tape to another. Have a look at the following post that should help.,1150,0x39036d96588ad4118fef0090279cd0f9,00.html
