ultrium 960 - Library not recognized

I have an Ultrium 960 1/8 autoloader connected to a DL380 G2.

During boot when detecting the HP HBA adapter (ultra 320 single adapter). I see a message " Boot Rom not supported".

Once into Linux, If I search for the adapter, 2 times, it is found.

The BPT version is 5.05.21
The DL380 Bios shows P24 12/11/2001

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Tracy

Re: ultrium 960 - Library not recognized

the Ultrium is not a boot device, so you can disable the boot option in the HBA bios, or just ignore the message

Re: ultrium 960 - Library not recognized

Ok. That is good to know. I am wondering why during post sometimes the autoloader and tape drive are found and sometimes it is not.

I just verified on the server that it currently sees the autoloader and drive. So, I loaded L&TT and the autoloader is not found.

The firmware version on the autoloader is 54W which I believe is current.

Re: ultrium 960 - Library not recognized

About an hour ago a restarted the server, once logged in, scanned for the Ultrium 960, it found the autoloader and library.

An hour later, I noticed the on the autoloader there is an error: BD 01

At the server console, I can scan for the autoloader and it is still found.

Is the error why sometimes the device can be found and sometimes it cannot or is the error not even related?

Thanks,
Tracy

Re: ultrium 960 - Library not recognized

I can suggest you to install and run LTT this tool can collect info in the autoloader
You can collect a support ticket and attach it here, that log may contain the reason of the error.
Actually I do not know what is the PN of your autoloader, and do not have the meaning of the BD error

Re: ultrium 960 - Library not recognized

I have downloaded and installed the ltt tool. However when I run it the autoloader is not found. I'm not sure where to go from here.

The PN is: AF204A
It is an Ultrium 960 LTO -3 scsi

Re: ultrium 960 - Library not recognized

BD 01

BD = Library Extender has reported an error condition.

01 = 01 Sensor master home not found.

cause: The Extender robotic cannot
locate its home position within
the master Library.

the error seems to be related to the extender, the extender is the mechanism that extend the library attaching a second one to the master.
You didn't spoke about a stacked library, so I suppose you have a single unit.
CHeck if something in the config is wrongly set as it looks like the library is looking for the extender.
