ultrium

Hi,

Attach to my SCSI chain is an Ultrium-1. The device file is /dev/rmt/1m (/dev/rmt/c5t3d0)

fbackup fails with this device (it complaints that /dev/rmt/1m is invalid) However tar works like a dream on /dev/rmt/1m. Can someone advise, please.
Thanks

Re: ultrium

Hi there.
You should not daisy chain an Ultrium drive with something else. The Ultrium drive should have its own interface like the DLT's.
That maybe one of the reasons.
Ever tried OmniBack ?

Re: ultrium

You should install the latest fbackup/frecover cumulative patch. It provides support for the Ultrium tape drives.

11.11 = PHCO_23914
11.00 = PHCO_23854
10.20 = PHCO_23861

The patch should resolve the issue.
